Walpole Farmers Market To Open Friday May 21
The new Walpole Farmers Market will kick off on Friday, May 21, 2010 on the Walpole Town Common, from 3 to 6 pm. The market will offer a quiet, small town atmosphere for shoppers to buy fresh, local food directly from growers and producers. Shoppers will find in season vegetables and fruit, meats, dairy products, eggs, maple syrup and candies, honey and bee products, mushrooms, and wine.Prepared foods featuring local ingredients, fiber products, and crafts will also be available at the market.
Walpole farms participating in the market include Abenaki Springs Farm, with certified organic veggies, berries, and herbs; Brookfield Farm, with certified organic, pastured meats and milk; Great Brook Farm, with milk and ground beef; Twin Spruce farm, with maple products; Walpole Bee Company, with honey and bee products; Walpole Mountain View Winery, with wine, grapes, and juice; and Walpole Valley Farms, with grass fed and finished beef, pork, poultry, and eggs.
Other vendors include Terra Fructi of Westmoreland, with mushrooms; Pleasant Street Soaps of Alstead, with handmade soaps; and Peaked Mountain Farm of Townshend, VT, with sheep cheese and lamb.
Tingfood of Walpole and Cai's Dim Sum Teahouse of Brattleboro, VT will offer delicious prepared food featuring fresh, local ingredients.
Baked goods, including blintzes, scones, breads, cookies, and muffins, will be offered by day vendors who will participate in the market from time to time. These vendors include O So Fine Wheat Free of Westminster, VT; and the Red Barn Bake Shop, soon to be from Walpole.
Crafts and fiber products will also be offered by occasional day vendors, including Sanctuary's Alpaca Farm of Alstead, with alpaca products; and Lark Leonard of Langdon, with baskets, caning, and ornaments.
