Break-In Alert

Ed. Note: Justin Sanctuary of the Walpole Police Department called me at 4:20 p.m. to report that Alstead has had two broad daylight robberies from unlocked homes in the last three days. In each case electronic equipment was stolen.  Walpole residents should be sure to lock doors and cars and to keep their eyes open for unfamiliar cars in the neighborhood. Sanctuary says not to hesitate to call the police at 911 if you see any suspicious or unusual activity.  CCB

Re: Break-In Alert
Chuck, robberies? Or burglaries. Robberies are thefts from persons by force or threat of force. Burglaries are thefts from premises by stealth.

Re: Break-In Alert
Really, billfosher, does the wording matter...a warning has been given that some unscrupulous individual(s) is/are taking property that does not belong to them. A sincere Thank you would be sufficent and a lesson in wordology seems inappropriate. Bill M.

Really, Bill? - I'd rather come home and find my stereo gone and skip the pistol in my face :)

Re: Break-In Alert
Well, Jack, hopefully neither of us will experience either situation. Both can be traumatic but being confronted with a weapon in ones face certainly would be the worse. My point was, which you may have missed, was that a crime had been committed and more could follow and the wording wss the least important fact in this case. Perhaps, that is not the case of other, and certainly not in yours. Sorry about that....Bill M
