Mel Schupack reports that there is another in the series of Conservation Commission walks set for tomorrow morning at 8:45 a.m. at the Fanny Mason Forest. Fanny Mason gave this 245-acre forest to the Town in 1948. A great variety of plant life thrives in this forest of pine, hemlock, oak and maple. The mile-long loop trail winds around ledges, over streams, through a pine grove, and past a stand of large old oaks. There is also a shorter footpath on the western parcel from a parking lot off River Road South We will do as much of the eastern trail as comfortable for the group. Swift Corwin, Forester, will be our guide. So far the weather forecast is for good. We will

It is an effort of the Walpole Conservation Commission in conjunction with the Monadnock Conservancy and their Community Conservation Partnership. That initiative also involves the Southwest Regional Planning Commission, UNH Cooperative Extension, Antioch New England Institute, and the Center for Land Conservation Assistance. We hope as many Walpoleans as possible will avail themselves of the opportunity to learn about these special places in Walpole. This will be the 5th of the 6 walks.
