Wish Clothing Opens in Walpole

New Women’s Clothing Shop

By Chuck Bingaman, Contributing Writer

Wish Clothing, a stylish women’s boutique, has opened at 52 Main Street in Walpole, the brainchild of local resident Kathy Monahan.

Offering an eclectic assortment of sweaters, tee shorts, jeans, turtlenecks, and accessories, Wish is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

“My philosophy is to offer what I like and what I’d like to wear,” noted Monahan who moved to Walpole from Connecticut in 2002. And my approach is casual but with some nice things as well.”

Wish offers ladies corduroys, khakis and jeans from moderate to upscale price ranges and with fashion forward touches.  Brands include G1, Red Wagon and others. White+Warren knits also figure prominently in both cotton and cashmere.  Tee shirt designer names include Michael Stars, Three Dots and LA Made.

In addition to classic ladies’ clothing Wish offers jewelry by viv&Ingrid and selected pieces by VIVO, and it offers a selection of perfumes, body butters and soy candles by Pacifica.

All store packaging is selected from largely recycled paper materials, “earth friendly” as Monahan puts it.

Wish’s spacious showroom shares a building with JM Design, the floral design business operated by long-time Walpole entrepreneur Jayson Munn.  As of yesterday, their new joint sign had not arrived, but they were hoping that it would be installed on the building by the time of the opening reception, to which the public is invited, tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

In previous incarnations over the years, the building has housed a grocery, both Athens and Diamond Pizza, and the original kitchen and storeroom of Burdick’s Chocolate.
