Walpole Old Home Days begin at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 22 with a Block Party sponsored by Connecticut River Bank and the Hubbard family. While final schedules will be posted in the town and in The Walpolean, the tentative schedule of events being planned is as follows...
On Thursday evening, June 23, The Walpole Players open Shakespeare’s Mid-Summer Night's Dream ($) in the Town Hall.
On Friday, the Talent Show kicks off at 4:30 p.m. in the downstairs of the Town Hall and Murray’s Strawberry Shortcake Social ($) runs from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in front of the restaurant. Later Friday there a street dance with the Country Hearts band in the Walpole Savings Bank parking lot, food sponsored by the American Legion ($) and fireworks over the village at 9:15 p.m.
And if that seems like a lot, wait till you see the full schedule on Saturday! Breakfast at the academy, 5K and children’s races, 10:00 a.m. super parade, firefighters’ challenge, antique car show, displays on the Common, pet show, children’s games, hayrides, woodsmen’s games, Fire Department lobster/clambake ($), jazz concert, high school reunions, and A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream ($).
Sunday winds up the busy weekend with breakfast at the Legion ($), ecumenical church service on the Common, cemetery walk at 2:00 p.m., 5:30 bank concert on the Common with the Bob Cunniff Orchestra ($ donation), presentation of parade awards, and the final performance of A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream ($) in the Town Hall.
